I wish I could award a zero score. My experience with Fothergill has been three months of stress, disappointment and frustration. The company products have been poor in quality, extremely late arriving (if they arrived at all) and the customer service has been awful. My order was for tomato plants for me and my key worker neighbour: one set was damaged, the next only half ever came and the final set never arrived at all (three months after ordering). None of this was due to the courier, Royal Mail. To be told I could have my money back for the last lot of tomatoes after waiting three months, and knowing they could not be replaced, was a disgrace. In March I promised my key worker neighbour that I would sort out all his favourite varieties of plants. Sadly, I never did, thanks to Fothergill. Other plant companies have had difficulties but by rationing orders, they have fulfilled expectations reasonably on time and with good products. No doubt Fothergills have made lots of money by taking every order, but at the expense of quality and customer care. I will never use them again.

If I could give lower than 1 star I would. In the absence of other brands of seeds as it appears everyone is growing during this crisis, the only seeds left are very expensive Fotheringill's and Johnsons. People are obviously already savvy. Bought a packet of parsley and a packet of Rocket. The parsley did half of a small container and the rocket did not even do a 12 x 12 container. Just hope even some of them come up§?????? My advice, even in the scarcity, don.t bother with Johnsons or especially Foyheringill's at £ £2 to £2.50 a packet. Just extortionate.

Ordered only 4 plants on 4 April 2021. Received nothing so far. They have my money but no updates on when my order will be send to me. Sent 2 emails: no reply. Only an automatic message. Getting nowhere.No a very good experience and only 1 star because communication is not possible, received no order and I'm now trying to receive a refund and cancel my order but I'm not very hopeful. Will I ever receive my money back?Tried to phone today but after waiting for 20 minutes and no answer: gave up. My advice: don't order from this company. No customer service and no plants. Poor service.

I've been buying plants and seeds from Fothergill's for a number of years. I've had amazing results until the past couple of years, when the quality of the plants has declined. I agree with other comments that dealing with their customer service is demoralizing and needs time and persistence that I don't always have. Yesterday the first part of my summer bedding order arrived - sweetpeas - and they are in a terrible state. I am about to embark on my complaint - wish me luck, I hope it is easier than last year. This will be my last year of buying from Fothergill's unless this gets addressed in a timely maner

I ordered 120 plug begonias,they arrived next day from dispatch date, all alive and in excellent condition,I will give these another order as a result.

Excellent seeds and delivery. I bought some dwarf french beans that I couldn't get elsewhere and they were quickly delivered. My only issue was that a reasonable proportion (probably 10%) of the seeds were broken which is certainly higher than you would see from other seed merchants, even when you do receive them through the post. I suspect they're a bit heavy-handed when packing them. Overall though, happy enough and would shop here again.

Marketing is awful on the nasturtiums wanted a mixture so bought large pack when opening only two packs were labelled had no idea which were the trailing ones or what colours they were very disappointed will not buy this make of seeds again

Items still not arrived. I have checked the web site and it’s way past due.... WAY past!Avoid this failing company

I ordered an item on 29 November. Today is the 15th of December and it has still not arrived. After calling, I was reassured it would arrive later, but that I could not cancel. This is significantly later than the 7-10 days that were promised on the website and in the confirmation e-mail. In my case, it means I was not able to receive the item before leaving for a longer trip abroad, which was very disappointing.

Seeds were stuck at post office as postage was not paid despite being charged- can’t contact, no reply

I bought Nasturtium :- Empress of India.The photographon the packet of the flowers shows them as being a flame red.I was disappointed when they appeared as a more orange in colour.

I had a reply from Fotheringills about seeds I purchased. They explain the amount of contents in the package (250 to 1000 of seeds) and then have the audacity to suggest I had sown them too thick. When not many came uo, even if I had sown them too thick there were not many. I suggest then there is obviously a problem with the seeds or the amount in the pack? AVOID, as I went and bought a cheaper brand and got good results.

I bought some out door girl tomatoe seed from dobbies garden centre and in 50 years of gardening this is the worst seed I have ever come across they only produced 4 tomatoes to a truss and the flavour is awful i grew this variety 15 years ago and it was a great tomato plant so what's happened to this seed I do not know to look on the packet it looks like a great tomatoe just go to show looks can be deceiving

Do not touch this company. I ordered 30 strawberry plants & peripherals in early April. They failed to deliver, and it transpires use a dodgy courier, neither of whom advise of scheduled delivery. There is NO customer service available, and it turns out that when products which you were not advised have been despatched fail to arrive its your own problem. No refund of £69.84 paid on 14th April has been forthcoming as of 20th July. Absolutely disgraceful.
